Welcome to my blog!
I have been wanting to start a blog about my journey from a non-tech career to where I am now, an Associate Automation Engineer. I am glad I have some free time to write some words to share with you! I am hoping it will encourage people, especially women to take a leap of faith and try to learn to code. We live in a beautiful world where learning about computers, programming and whatever sparks your interest, can be found online. Most of the courses are free and others you have to pay. Either way, learning something new can be exciting! Not only can you land a new job but what are the chances of you loving what you do? AND get paid for doing it? With the right set of tools and eager to help, mentors, the world is open to SO MANY new possibilities where with a click of a button, you are free to learn whatever you want! How cool is that?!
This is exactly how my journey began, with a click of a button. I come from an HR background, a job that kept me up at night. Issues from employees to their families was the center of my life. I wanted a change, something exciting, something that will challenge me intellectually. I wanted something that would ignite a flame of curiosity to learn something new. It took me years to find what I was looking for but it was worth it. It was not an easy change, it was quite difficult as I peeled myself off from something I was good at but strongly disliked it, to something unfamiliar, but oh-so deliciously exciting. And, it is here where I am now!
Sure, it’s easy to check your e-mail, search for ‘where to buy Groot’ on google search engine, but when you go behind the scene of everything that makes your screen look pretty and interactive, it is down-right confusing. Whatever code it is written in is alien to a non-techie person, where once upon a time, was I. But once you learn the language of computers, it is invigorating. For example, let’s say you’re trying to communicate with someone who speaks Spanish but you have no idea what they are saying. Instead of struggling to understand them, imagine how easy and pleasant it would be if you learned how to speak the same language.
Look at the language this blog was created in:
- Right click on your mouse
- A list of “stuff” will appear like the image above ^_^
Click on inspect and you will see the code, it’s called DOM (Document Object Model). Play around with it, change some words and watch your screen change at your command. Don’t worry, it’s not a permanent change. There’s no internet police, only a nerdy girl pushing you to try something new.
What did you think? I would love to know your thoughts!
P.S I am in the beginning stage of my career and would love it if you would join me on my path to becoming the best version of myself. Put on your virtual seatbelt because I have a feeling unbelievable yet the rewarding experience is coming my way.
Psssttt! Don’t go just yet. Here are some of the sites that will help you on your way for Free! :
